Every student in the College is assigned a personal Tutor, and they are always available to support and guide any student facing difficulty.For more information visit the College Tutors webpage.My work covers both within- and between-host dynamics, and while my past research has focused on viruses, it is broadening to examine the role of contact structure and heterogeneity in the host population.Current projects include: Our work covers a wide range of virus-host systems, including HIV and simian retroviruses, enteric viruses such as norovirus and rotavirus, hepatitis viruses, including HBV, HCV, and HEV, as well as viruses that have yet to be associated with pathological consequences such as pegiviruses and anelloviruses.In this work, I have examined how personality is expressed in a variety of domains (e.g., music preferences, movie preferences, political ideology, geographic regions), and how impressions of others are formed on the basis of such information. Phil Evans, Department of Biochemistry, Cambridge, and then moved to a postdoc in the Department of Chemistry with Prof. She subsequently held a Beit Memorial Fellowship in Medical Research and then an MRC Career Development Award, with which she started her own group.
Our group and others have shown that the simple modular, one-dimensional architecture of tandem repeat proteins gives them distinctive properties compared with globular proteins and makes it uniquely straightforward to map the energetics of their structures and to rationally redesign their stability, folding and molecular recognition.
